How to protect the content using Token Authentication feature?
26 June 2012 01:52 AM

Our advanced token authentication feature allows you to protect your content on the CDN (fileburstcdn.com) by country, directories, or the referrer URL. Additionally, you can protect your content by only allowing it to be available for a certain amount of time.

Here are the steps to protect your content using token:

  1. Upload or put the content you want to protect under the "/token" directory
  2. Login to the Control Panel and go to "Manage - Token Authentication" menu
  3. There is one default token already created, you can use it right away by appending the token string at the end of your content URL, e.g. http://username.fileburstcdn.com/token/filename.zip?25c9fb835772f66fd9a8342e58f7
  4. If you want to generate a new token using different parameters (country, directory, referrer, or expired time), click on the "Add Token" button

PARAMETERS

Countries Allowed
The countries specified will be allowed to access the content. All other countries will be blocked. Countries Allowed takes precendence over Countries Denied in the case both are present.

Countries Denied
The countries specified will be denied to access the content. All other countries will be allowed.

Directories Allowed
Allow access to content from the selected sub-directories. Content in other sub-directories will be denied access.

Expired Time
This value sets the expiration of the token. This is useful if you want to create a token-protected download link that expires after a certain amount of time, when you have a limited time promotion or campaign.

Referrer URL Allowed
Prevent hot-linking, only allow access to this list of referrers. For example, if you want people to download your software directly from your website (not from other sources), you can enter your website's domain name here, e.g. "yourdomain.com".

NOTES

The same token is valid to protect all HTTP Large & Small Objects, Windows, and Flash contents and would be applied recursively on any sub-directories.

Click on "Reset" to reset all tokens using a new encryption key.

WARNING: This will take one hour to propagate. All previous token strings will stop working and be replaced with new ones.
